Who needs an alarm clock when you’ve got a mobile?

The mobile handset feature most likely to displace a stand-alone device for British users (after the phone) is the alarm clock, according to UK telecoms regulator Ofcom’s annual survey.

This is followed by the camera. A significant minority of people also say their mobile is substituting for their stand-alone portable music player or games console.

The survey found that household spending on mobile phones has fallen by two per cent in the UK to £31.72 a month, largely due to increased competition leading to price cuts.
